Slip and Fall
A “slip and fall” is a term used in a personal injury case which arises when an injury is caused as a result of a dangerous or hazardous condition on someone else’s property. Inside a building, dangerous conditions such as torn carpeting, abrupt changes in flooring, poor lighting, narrow stairs, or a wet floor can cause you to fall and hurt yourself. Outside a building, you may slip and fall because of rain, ice, snow or a hidden hazard, such as a gap or hidden pothole. Slip and fall accidents can occur on commercial, residential or public property. Regardless of where an injury occurs, all property or building owners have a certain level of responsibility(duty of care) to make sure the environment is safe.
Automobile Accidents and Injuries
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, an automobile accident occurs every 10 seconds. That means there are an infinite number of possibilities as to why and how an automobile accident can happen. Factors such as alcohol, drugs, distractions (kids in the car), using a cell phone, lack of sleep, failing to use one’s turn signal, and adjusting the stereo system, have all been linked to automobile accidents. Everyone that is on the road has a civil duty to drive and act with due care.
Wrongful Death
A wrongful death claim is a suit that arises from the death of an individual because of the conduct of another. The suit differs from other personal injury cases because the suit is brought by the decedent’s family or estate, rather than the victim themselves. The purpose of the suit is to recover damages to the family members that have been injured both emotionally and financially due to the death of the loved one.
